PRODUCT OVERVIEW
aquaLife Scientific Carbon is a premium, virgin coconut shell activated carbon engineered for advanced aquarium and pond systems. This scientific-grade formula delivers exceptional adsorption performance, ultra-low dust, extended service life, and superior water polishing capability.
Manufactured using an advanced activation process that creates an enormous internal surface area, aquaLife Scientific Carbon efficiently removes dissolved pollutants that mechanical filtration leaves behind — resulting in crystal clear, healthy water.
Unlike standard granular carbons, this high-density coconut carbon offers greater adsorption efficiency, improved structural hardness, and longer usable lifespan.
The true value of aquaLife Scientific Carbon lies in its superior raw material quality, activation method, and adsorption performance—not simply the amount of carbon in the container.

WHY aquaLife SCIENTIFIC CARBON IS DIFFERENT
• Premium virgin coconut shell carbon • Extremely high surface area (~1225 m²/g)
• Iodine number ? 1000 • Very high hardness (? 97 Ball-Pan) • Acid washed for purity
• Low ash content (? 3%)
• Neutral pH impact
• Phosphate free
• Ultra-low dust – minimal rinsing required
Many standard carbons rely on lower-grade lignite or soft bituminous sources. These break down faster, generate more dust, and require more material to achieve the same polishing effect.
aquaLife Scientific Carbon delivers high-efficiency adsorption similar to other premium reef carbons in the marketplace — while offering extended service life and excellent cost efficiency per gallon treated.

WHAT IT REMOVES
• Yellowing pigments and tannins
• Dissolved organic compounds
• Residual medications (remove carbon during treatment)
• Odors
• Proteins and irritants
• Metals and harmful chemicals
• Pollutants not removed by mechanical filtration
BENEFITS
• Crystal clear water • Improved light penetration for corals and plants • Enhanced coloration in reef systems • Healthier fish and invertebrates • Cleaner, fresher aquarium or pond water
Suitable for:
• Reef aquariums
• Marine fish systems
• Planted freshwater tanks
• Cichlid aquariums
• Shrimp systems
• Ponds

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
¼ cup (4 tablespoons) per 125 gallons of water Equivalent to 0.03 tablespoons per gallon
For small tanks or heavily loaded systems, use up to 1 tablespoon per 10 to 20 gallons.
—————
REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE
Replace every 1–4 months depending on: • Bioload • Feeding intensity • Organic load • Overall maintenance schedule
—————
REEF AQUARIUM GUIDELINES
• Use carbon for 1–2 weeks when polishing is needed. • Remove after use and allow the system to run without carbon for at least two weeks before reapplying if necessary. • Dose trace elements as appropriate when carbon is removed.
—————
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. Place carbon in a filter bag, media reactor, canister filter, or between filter pads/floss.
2. Rinse lightly before use to remove minor dust.
3. Remove carbon when medicating the aquarium or pond.
4. Replace as required based on system demand.
